Madison, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Madison’s annual cancer research cycling benefit, The Ride, announces it has set a new annual record of over $400,000 raised for cancer research and counting. The Ride fundraising campaign officially ends on October 1, 2019.

The Ride is a year-round mission that is making significant strides to accelerate innovative cancer research discoveries.”

The Ride was created in 2016 and has generated well over $1 Million to date towards the University of Wisconsin’s cancer mission. The Ride delivers 100% of all rider-raised funds towards cancer initiatives made possible by the generous support of its sponsors.

“We created The Ride to financially support and encourage the most aggressive and innovative research approaches and have seen success in the ideas that have been accelerated from the bench to the clinic in our first four years of The Ride. This would not be possible without our community of over 1,650 riders, 200 volunteers, corporate sponsors and the several thousand financial contributors and donors in 2019, which are growing exponentially each year. The mission of The Ride and its impact at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is palpable.”

Each winter, The Ride identifies highly promising discoveries in cancer research and patient treatment at the University of Wisconsin to support Ride Scholars who receive awards to advance their work. Recently, Ride Scholar Dr. Josh Lang received a $3 Million grant from the National Cancer Institute for his cutting edge research catalyzed by seed funding from The Ride.
